NC State Calendar

In my last blog entry, I mentioned that two of my shots would be in the NC State CVM Behavior Club Calendar. The contest had about 300 submissions, and 20 shots were included. The images for the calendar are now available online, and some of them are extremely good shots (none of those being mine).

Dude you got September and October mentions. I do like the cow shot and I am wondering why the praying mantis is smiling.

The cow shot is awesome. I love the Boston Terrier too.

This is hillarious. I was just about to log on to say that the April cow was my favorite.

I too agree that the cow is the best shot. I can only wonder how bad the picture of Riley was, considering that July made the cut. Come on!

Here is the shot of Riley. I actually liked the July shot, but the March and back cover shots didn't do much for me.

As for October-right, it's a great shot. However, I'm not certain that it actually fits the rules outlined for the competition. While a praying mantis is admittedly a member of Kingdom Animalia, I thought the subjects were also supposed to be animals treated by veterinarians (which I assume to all be vertebrates). If they're using the broadest definition of animals, then I guess I'll submit my bee shot next year.

Nate, I think that you should post the photo of Riley retreiving in water, as it looks identical to the back cover shot (except substitute a Yorkie for a black lab)

Here is the shot Stephanie is talking about. I plan to submit it next year, and yes, it is pretty much exactly like the one that got in.
