Steph and I spent Saturday in the NC mountains, and I took advantage of the chance to take a few shots. The images above are from the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville, Whitewater Falls near the South Carolina border, and the Blue Ridge Parkway near below Grandfather Mountain. A larger version of the first image is now up on my FLICKR page. I think it's best viewed large.

I was really impressed by your early morning shot of "grandfather"mountain. great colors, until I saw the foliage shot...
absolutely stunning! what a palette of green. I have run through the adjectives and superlatives. I should have saved them for this shot.
I am in awe!

Thanks. That's really nice of you.
Actually, the landscape features Looking Glass Rock, which is south of Asheville near Breavard, rather than Grandfather Mountain, which is further north near Boone.
I didn't actually take any pictures of Grandfather Mountain (the light wasn't right when we were there), but the plant was growing just off a trail on the side of the mountain.
I really like the first two shots, too, but the foliage shot is neat. I automatically found myself saying, "Ohhhhhhh!" Good angle. I like it a lot! Ma
