On one of the last days of our break, Steph took me over to the vet school, and I spent a little time taking pictures of the newborn Boer goats. I really struggle with photographing live subjects, but I found these charming little creatures remarkably photogenic.
As I get back to class, I'll probably enter another lull in photography, so my plan is to post some of my favorite shots from that afternoon over the coming weeks. However, this one is probably the best shot from that day.

The original version of this shot actually included three of a kind, but I cropped it. There are things I like about each version, but when I put both versions in front of our screening population (i.e. Stephanie), I decided to settle on the pair.
The goats are sweet. I have been reading a “how to” photography book. For portraits (and I apply this to animals too) the book suggests to take them at eye level and zoom in. I tried this on Bear. To be honest is was just a lucky shot, which I cropped. If you look closely, the pupils are identical because one eye was bright yellow from the flash. You have to love digital files over film.
No animals were harmed in the production of today's photos.
I have some portrait style shots that I will post later. Here, I was more interested in capturing the entire animal(s). I liked the position of the group of them.
That third kid wasn't as cute. His face was ugly.
