I might be wrong, but I think this is a shot that really demonstrates the value of a solid background. If I would make the $2 investment in double sided poster board (black and white) to put behind my subject, I think I could make an image like this one "pop."

Somebody loaned me a really nice camera. :) The author of that photo book wasn't lying- equipment can make a difference! I'm really having fun with it. Thank you so much.
It's amazing how many people are getting into digital photography. We went to a Durham Bulls game tonight with some of Steph's classmates, and I'd estimate that there were 5 digital SLRs in our section alone. A year ago, I bet there would've been 1 at most.
