One more...

Often, I'll take a set of pictures and pick my favorites, only to find that something else jumps out at me the next time I visit those shots. That was the case today with the shots of this flower. I liked this shot from the start, but after revisiting it this evening, I now like it enough to post it and to make it the banner for the blog.

It's amazing how an image can look different with different browsers. The colors on this shot look a lot richer with Safari than with Firefox, where it looks a little washed out to me. Weird.

I just went back and looked at the last batch of pictures through Safari and you are right about the colors. I had never really noticed, but the difference is pretty crazy.

Shots are great.

And speaking of SLRs, I've had my eye on the Nikon D40 and D60, simply because I have a Nikkor lens already, but I have been waffling about the thing. Maybe some day.

I seriously have no idea what you guys are talking about. I just installed Safari and it looks no different to me. And just FYI, my computer is seriously PO'd right now as I am running Mozilla, IE, and Safari simultaneously. It's like watching a three way computer version of Westside Story. "A browser like dat, he keel your hard drive. Stick to your own kind."

Best Buy has the Nikon D40 for $399 right now ($499 + $100 mail in rebate). That's not bad, considering that 12 months ago, you would've spent $1000 for a camera of that quality.

Nat, maybe it's some odd combination of machine + browser, but the tones are quite different viewing it on my Mac with Safari versus on my Mac with Firefox. My PC with IE looks pretty much like Safari.

One comment on my last post, let me clarify that I am not in the market for a Nikon D40 or any other camera (it's that whole not employed thing). I have this crazy habit of picking up expensive habits... cycling, photography, traveling... not to mentioin that I'd love a kayak. Seriously, running is the only affordable thing I do (and that's only affordable because I don't run races with any regularity).

Yeah, I'm thinking we're no longer in the market for a D40. We're in the market for tooth removal.

I've already spent about $120 on races this year and I had to skip one of them because of my IT Band flare up. By the end of the year I'll have probably doubled that.

I'd like a kayak too. I live two miles away from Lake Springfield. It probably wouldn't be an exciting kayak experience but it would still be cool.

I'd also like to take sailing lessons. Maybe when I finish grad school.

Sailing would be cool. My dad built a small sail boat when he was a kid, and we sometimes went out on it when I was in elementary school. At the beach, I always want to rent a catamaran, but I'm always afraid that I won't be able to get it turned around, and I'll end up in Scotland.

They give sailing lessons at the Springfield Yacht Club. At least I think that is where Dr. Lee said sailing lessons are at. I told him I liked C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower books and he asked if I knew how to sail. I might look into it in a few years.
