Since returning to North Carolina, I've fallen back into the habit of not taking any photographs. As a result, my last shot of 2007 will have to be the color version of my second-to-last shot of 2007. I prefer the black-and-white, but at the same time, it's always nice to see the color as well so that you have a sense of what it really looked like.
Happy New Year.

This is a repost of my first comment, with corrections of the many typos. I sometimes find Word's auto-correct is really auto-mistake. Anyway, I much prefer the color photo to the black and white photo of the windmill. Maybe this is because I grew up watching black and white TV. Today's HDTV
sure beats the old 19" B&W. I took a shot today the comes as close to black and white that I do. I will call it, Iowa Pompous Grass. Happy New Year.
There are things I do like better about the color version of this shot (for instance, the color of the blades), but overall, I still prefer the B&W. It's a rare shot where I would've preferred something other than a crystal clear sky in the background, but this is one. I think that's the reason I like the other version.
That said, I don't have a strong leaning, unlike the water tower shot. In that case, I think the black and white smooths out some of the imperfections of the structure and makes it look prettier than it actually is.
Great shot of the pompous grass, by the way. That's really nice.
I like the "wax paper" quality of the blades and direction vane.
very well done
I kind of lean toward liking the color version better. I think it shows a little more of the character of the windmill, the brass blades and all. It would have looked pretty cool if it had been cloudy that day.
Yeah. I'm torn.
color! I like the color one.
